Snapchill Canned Coffee recalled due to potential botulism

Posted: 06/21/2024

Whether it’s hot brewed coffee, iced, or pre-made and purchased, coffee is one of the most popular beverages consumed in the United States. For consumers that rely on pre-made canned coffee, a large nation-wide recall was just announced yesterday by the FDA.

Snapchill LLC bottles canned coffee beverages for hundreds of different companies across the country, and it was announced that hundreds of products from 128 different companies are being voluntarily recalled due to potential botulism contamination. No cases have been reported, and no products are testing positive – this is simply because of the low acid canning process and FDA compliance. Clostridium botulinum is a paralytic bacterial toxin that paralyses the muscles responsible for breathing, and symptoms can appear anywhere from a few hours to many days after exposure.
